Stark and bleak the hills around me in the west are covered in a carpet of spruce and Scots pine, or a decidious lone tree against the pallor of a wild sky. The silhouette can envelop your senses especially when the dusk hangs on the horizon and contrasts of sunset set the trees ablaze in colour.
I want the viewer to become lost in my paintings mystery. As an artist I believe each painting that hangs in your home should bring you joy, that you should see something new in your painting every day. I love that this is a small piece, but asks those same questions; 'what do I see here?'
