Broken reflections, bold colours, layered components and above all, mystery and intrigue. When I begin a painting, it can start with an inspirational colour (orange, in this instance), and let it develop lots shapes and shadows. This unique work developed organically, the bold ‘horizon’ line and shadow challenges the viewer. One questions what they see; am I looking ‘at’ something or ‘through’ something? A transparent blue casts a geometrical shadow and a bold, textured orange panel adds to the dramatic composition.
I want the viewer to become lost in its mystery. As an artist I believe each painting that hangs in your home should bring you joy, that you should see something new in your painting every day. I love that this is a medium sized piece, but asks those same questions; 'what do I see here?', grabbing attention as an abstract composition on any wall space.
