This piece is an exceptionally expressionistic piece for me as an artist. Unusually for me, their is no hint here at aged surfaces, merely the joy of abstraction, paint application, an interplay of past and present, imagined and tangible. One can view the shadows, the depth, & questions what is going on 'in there'. There is something quite visceral about the piece, it asks more questions than gives us answers.
I titled this piece 'Selva Oscura', after the 'dark wood' in Dantes Inferno, a piece tortured with emotion, darkness, fire & the colour red. Physically applying red paint in such a frenetic manner was quite appealing...
