“Others had echoes, gave back your own call
With a clean new music in it” Seamus Heaney- Personal Helicon

I’ve been in awe of the poems of Heaney since I was a child, this painting Helicon, stems from those memories, of freedom, fields, and wild abandon. The rising into the air of these swallows echoes these emotions, the rich blues nestle into the freedom of an abstract background, as if the birds hover between layers within the foreground and background. It was a pleasure to paint.
